Geena Whiteman

ESRC Ph.D Student (School to Entrepreneurship Transitions), Youth Entrepreneurship Consultant and SDGs Advocate

I am currently enrolled in a 1+3 ESRC Funded PhD Programme undertaking research on the school to entrepreneurship transition in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo. This is a multidisciplinary project combining labour economics, political science and education studies, exploring how young people within the post-conflict post-socialist nexus develop their interest in, and pursue entrepreneurship. My wider research interests include: youth unemployment, labour market transitions, human capital development, youth participation, social entrepreneurship, human rights in business, education policy and sustainable development. For more information, click for my ESRC DTP profile or my ResearchGate profile.

I am an experienced project coordinator and workshop facilitator with a demonstrated history of working on youth entrepreneurship related projects, predominantly within the capacity of international projects (under the Erasmus+ programme). I am currently involved in the development and delivery of various Erasmus+ funded youth entrepreneurship projects with partners across Europe, and deliver ad-hoc workshops on social entrepreneurship to youth groups and organisations globally. I am an ambassador for the World Summit Awards, and lead on the Youth Strategy for Remembering Srebrenica Wales.
